Planescape: The Perfect MMO Setting?

This is an an awesome idea. If I t was done right I'd pay a monthly fee to play it.

I don't know about anyone else, but I love Torment. I play it for just a little bit around the holidays.

With so many factions, guilds, power groups and the like, you might soon have so many players with conflicting goals that you could run the whole game on that base.

Just an idea, those of you who play MMORPGs will have to tell me why that wouldn't work

You'll still need NPC quest givers and NPC merchants to sell goods and remove money from the economy. Still, it could make a very good game if done right.

Yeah, the idea for NPC's is to have not many more than needed to give out quests and sell people stuff. The PvP (both physical and mental/political) aspects should be strong. You can't exactly go to war in Sigil, but there should absolutely be areas where PvP is allowed and encouraged, and the whole game should have the social PvP aspect where the more quests that are completed for Organization X, the more power Organization X gains in Sigil and the planes.

Only places where PVP could be allowed would be around the Hive, with the Slags and one of the gladiatorial pits. Anywhere else it could be places like the Field of Nettles in Gray Waste, the Plain of Infinite Portals or Avernus.

... and to preserve the balance of power, everyone else's quests should then tend to be "oppose Organization X". :]

I'm really liking this setting.

I do not have time to play and my wife might kill me, atleast a little bit, but I would make some time to play this, as well.

It seems wrong to me, but I understand exactly what you mean by being killed "a little bit" by your wife. :p

Personally, I would prefer it if they keep the original 15 Sigil Factions intact for the MMORPG. I don't want the post-Faction War setting as much...

...but even so, I would still buy it.
