Planning a Game

Play-by-Post is a format that takes a bit longer than most. I believe the DM I played with was Emericol though I am unsure. There are some message boards that are made specifically for PbP however the ones here on EnWorld will more than suffice and perhaps make other people curious about that 13 Kingdoms board they might see now and then on EnWorld.

It essentially goes like this. PC's write up their character sheets and send them to the DM. DM looks them over for mistakes and such as is usual. Perhaps they also send over character Background information for the DM to use and in the case of T13K maybe whatever house rules the DM they may have played under before were using.

On the message boards the DM writes out the opening scenario and it goes from there literally post by post. Sometimes a turn cycle is written up othertimes it's simply who get's to the message boards first. One could makes things more organized limiting actions to one PC post per day but that would slow down a system that is slow enough as is.

EnWorlds doesn't have a dice rolling program but nonetheless has a thriving PbP community, essentially what occurs is the PC's would describe actions to the DM and then the DM would Roll the dice physically or on his own program. This would call for a reasonable amount of trust of course however any true abuse would likely be easily noticed and called. That is the basic gist of it, it's essentially a system good for those whose schedule means they can't set aside 3-6 hours in a week to run a session on OpenRPG or for those whose schedules conflict with others. Considering how my last OpenRPG session went and the fact it pretty much had to be canceled, not to mention a relatively busy semester comming up for me this method of gaming is far more ideal and convenient.

Hope that long winded explanation answered any questions, feel free to ask more.

My apologies. Stress at work and a death in the family as well as moving sort of nipped my plans for starting that play by post game in the bud. To those interested please let me know if you'd like to use characters you already have or start fresh at first level. The the former send me info on your character race, class, and level. Should there not be a compatable group then we'll just start a first level game.

I am interested in joining the PbP group.

I don't have any previous characters from The 13th Kingdom, and this would be my first PbP game... well, ever.

Let me know if you are still planning on running and what I'll need to create for you, as well as any house rules I need to know. :)

PBP Game

Well, if anyone is still keeping tabs on this feel free to e-mail me their character idea/character sheet/background and all that. Clicking on my name and selecting 'e-mail' should work without me having to post it on here for spammers. If not then let me know and I'll post it regardless.

Okay, life is calming down a bit, so if anyone is out there here's the deal: 1st level starting in Rhaavin (my country needs attention dammit!) and otherwise nothing more. e-mail characters to me at ithian2 @ hotmail . com and I will look them over and things should go well. My house rules include:

Spells: 3.0 spells are fine and dandy, my opinion of 3.5 adjustments for balance is rather harsh, seems if something is useful and efficient it's over powered, I don't stand for that.

Critical Hits: I'll let you vote on this. My Table Top group has never nor will never use 'critical threat' rules, things are done as they were in second edition: a crit is a crit is a cit. Though I acknowledge some aren't fond of such mixed blessings and will allow you to decide such things.

Classes: 3.5 all the way. Those were adjustments I found appealing.

If it's published by WotC I'm usually accepting of it. Typically same goes for Dragon Magazine as well. For Dragon simply give me the issue number and I'll look it up, I have almost every one since 3rd edition got started. I'll post an actual game thread momentarily when everyone is signed in and confirmed I'll post a thread in EnWorlds PbP area.

WARNING: I'll keep to rules laid out for T13K (if I'm in violation feel free to inform me) However as a DM I am more than willing to adjust, forgo, twist and bend the rules for game flow purposes. I am no rules lawyer and will not require a D20 roll for every little thing. Those obsessed with being meticulous in regards to rules may not enjoy gaming under me.

I am interested in playing. Let me know if anyone else signs up.

I agree with you about WotC castrating the arcane magic wielding classes. There is hardly a point in being a wizard any more.
