Plant creatures

One of these days, I'm gonna have to bite the bullet and stat out the Awakened Plants. Not exactly "not yet converted in official 3E books, from older editions" - heck, it's a core monster that's not even *listed* in any 3E book, even though Awaken is right there in the PHB!

It'd just be trees, since that's (IIRC) the only plant the awaken spell works on.

Yup. More importantly, they would be Animated Objects (one of at least 7 different sizes, and an unspecified number of special abilities), but with the Plant type, different stats, and no indication of what the LA or CR should be.

"Just trees" doesn't really narrow it down that much, when it comes down to figuring out the exact stats...

The old "ent" could cast Summon Tolkien Estate Legal Team. That piddly 1E "treant" doesn't stand a chance.

And that doesnt even include when you give them class levels.

A willow with a few levels of fighter can start using it's branches as whips,
or the birtch tree wizard who scribes scrolls on his own bark

of course, I personally believe that to mention that it is bad art and by Dennis Crabapple is redundant because he is possibly the only irredeemably bad artist that WotC uses, IMO

I accidentally stumbled across his blog, and it seems that he has packed his things and left in an unknown direction, with no intention of ever working for WotC again. Yay!

strange how Supplement III Eldritch Wizardry didn't have that effect with the Type VI demon (Balrog)
