I have heard a few people mention something about changing their clothes to "get into character," and I was wondering how many people have experience with people dressing up to play in a campaign.

This could be- pull on a wizard's robe, or put on some funny rabbit ears, or dressing up in full SCA garb (armor, sword, shield the whole lot).

I have a smoker's jacket - as my mom calls it - that I wear whenever I play a waizard. I don't know what a smokers jacket is, but it looks like a silk blue bathrobe. I just throw on over my existing clothes. Whenever I play a ranger I have a cmaouflage hat that I put on.

Well, whenever I play my halfling rogue I put on a pair of sweatpants and a comfy t-shirt. Whenever I play my psycho cleric I put on a pair of sweatpants and a comfy t-shirt...same thing when I DM...okay, that's just because I wear the same thing every day (at least in the winter).

For a one-shot when playing a CIA spook, I recall putting on a pair of sunglasses I had in my pocket. Unless it was a LARP or a small article of clothing, I'd consider it pretty wierd.

We used to have some difficulty about being out-of-character, rather often...

Our solution was to have character hats. If you weren't wearing a hat (just any hat), then you aren't in character, which means you can't take actions or communicate information to other characters. The result was that we had a miscellany of funny-looking hats, and whenever we had a funny OOC comment, we'd tip our hat and say it, much to the displeasure of the DM.

You should have included another option in your poll - Sometimes, but not every time.

That you have been a good one, didn't think of it. I suspose that people can chime in and speak their mind.

Heh I've considered it sometimes. Though never actually went ahead and did it. Though when I was home for a weekend my friend was running a homebrew Zombie campaign. Since I was just home for the weekend my character was going to come in, then die and become a zombie. So in homage to the character I went upstairs and changed into a red shirt.

I do have a friend though who at least used to wear shoulder pauldrons, but of course at times he would wear it to school to.
