They're all weirdos! I wouldn't be caught dead with someone like that!

Now pardon me while I put on my vulcan ears and head to this Star Trek Con.

Weirdos. :p

P.S. On a more serious note, my boss in my college job was a LARPer. Her and an RA I knew. I thought it was pretty cool that my boss was into that.

You ara all WEIRDOS. <scowls and heads out of room>

seriously I don't go in for that and would worry a bit if I had one of those players in my game. Although we did have one player do it once for the laughs. But I think calling someone a weirdo is a little harsh. On a related note don't you hate when people use the term "weird" in a derogitory fashion. :D

My dad assumes too much and about half the things I say sound derogitory to him, but thats my life. If I am weird, that so are my parents. Weird begets weird.

Well, I encourage my players to use props, so once in a while we have some of this kind of stuff. I've used clothes as props myself, both as a player and as a dm.

Although I voted for point one, I don't actually think it's weird to dress up at the gaming table. If you want to, go ahead! I'd probably draw a line if someone came with a real sword to the table, because that's too dangerous.

I had someone show up with a sword. He needed to oil it. We made him leave it in the closet while he was there, though. It wasn't quite baby friendly (played at my best friend's place).

FYI, I removed the "think it's weird" part. At best, it was confusing and at worst, offensive.
I'm sure neither was the intent. :)

If you have questions, e-mail me.

Most of my gaming group comes armed to the table-- for reasons unrelated to the game. My house is a little too small and little too fragile for heavy steel, but casual knifeplay is pretty much a given any time we're all together, gaming or otherwise.

Neither me nor my roommate is much concerned about casual carrying of weapons, though if anyone does anything stupid with a firearm, they're likely to wake up on the porch surrounded by the weapon's component parts.

edit: As far as the topic of the thread goes-- I play of non-humanoid characters that aren't likely to be wearing clothes. I don't get up to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night without putting on pants and a belt, and I rarely leave my house without a necktie. That means character dress-up is just about out.
