I assume your\e only qestioning this regarding tabletop games?
For LARP, this is the norm. But for TT games, I have only seen this a couple times.
I did wear a cowboy hat for a few Deadlands games though ...

do it alot of the time.

no necessarily the chainmail and the sword... tho i have... but other things to help jog my memory. a ring, a handband, a glove, a cravot, a pair of boots, not a cape or cloak but perhaps another sweater or sweatshirt draped on my chair...

just the little things to remind me to use the items powers.. or why they are important.

You know, I'm a statistician. I've been statisticulating for 10 years, but really, I never wanted to do this in the first place! It's true! I wanted to be...

A ROLEPLAYER!

Leaping from game to game! Playing elves, dwarves, orcs, trolls, men, women, boys, girls, and others! With my best dice by my side!
Dungeons and Dragons!
Vampire: the Gathering!
GURPS d20 HERO!
Synnibar!
FATAL!
We'd sing! Sing! Sing!

Oh, I'm a roleplayer and I'm okay,
I sleep all night and I work all day.

I roll my dice, I eat my lunch,
I go to the lavatory.
On Wednesdays I go shopping
And have buttered scones for tea.

I kill bad guys, I skip and jump,
I like to press wild flowers.
I put on women's clothing,
And hang around in bars.

I write fan fics, I wear high heels,
Suspendies and a bra.
I wish I'd been a girlie
Just like my dear papa.

Polling Tip

If you're going to make a poll, each of the choices should be mutually exclusive.
The only two that could not (truthfully) be used together are A and D. But it is certainly possible that someone could have never done it, and know people that do, and have players that do.

Not done it to any extent. My previous flatmates were a couple who used to LARP now and again, their foam swords would occasionally get bought out for their games. Mostly for drunken fighting.

Seriously dressing up for a pen and paper RPG is not something I'd enjoy. If some of the other players wanted to, then I'd most probably deal with it... even if I felt a bit awkward. If the group expected me to dress up, then I'd likely find a new game!

By 'seriously dressing up', I'm not talking about a random prop or silly hat!
