D&D 5E Players Roll All the Dice... Next

So I want to port this Unearthed Arcana house rule over to the new edition of dnd, and it seems to work out just fine with one single caveat; Player's Save DCs. Currently the DC is 8 + Proficiency Bonus + Attribute Modifier and the monster rolls against this. I was going to just have players roll their Spell Attack Modifier, but then I realized their save DC is figured from 8 instead of 10... how should I approach this? thanks a million!

Nice! its too bad that the math isn't a straight +12 all across the board like it used to be. I wonder if anyone has any insight into why spell DCs are factored from 8 instead of 10 like AC or Passive Perception

Actually, it's not so hard.

It will be +12 across the board as you said, except for the Spell Save DC which will be +14. And, I also would really like to know the reasoning behind the base 8 for Spell Save DC instead of the usual base 10.

My take on it is the following: for spells you always add the proficiency modifier, which does not happen with AC, and they wanted to reduce this [initial] +2 bonus in order to homogenize things.

Remembering to add 14 when a spell attack is being rolled isn't too hard true. And if I happen to forget that I need to add 14 instead of 12 it sounds like it wouldn't break anything either. I'm not as much of a math nazi as I used to be, so long as it's fun and easy (and player facing)
