Playing a GM Built Character

Would you be adverse to running a GM built character in a play by post game?

Pre-generated characters can be fun. I would be happy to play one. I think in many cases, particularly settings that the players are unfamiliar with, can really be brought alive by giving the players a list of cool characters with great backgrounds and letting them choose.

It depends on the GM, although my gut reaction is to flee.

A character generated by the DM? I'd play it no problems.

A character generated and already played in the campaign? No. I've had bad experiences playing other people's characters - especially the DM's. Never get the personality right, never get the assertiveness or lack of it right, never get the emotion right, etc. But then again, I have a general rule that I don't play characters that have already been played. Too hard.

My longer answer would be if I'm drawn to the PC and can establish some sort of connection with him/her.

I generally have trouble writing up back story, I'd love it, unless of course the character had to speak in riddles

Generaly, it depends. I like having some control, but a pregened character can work fairly well also, if done right and given enough hooks. However, I usually want to have a chance to learn a little bit about a pregen before I play one.
