[Playtest 2] Spell damage out of whack?

One thing that I did notice was in the How to Play under damage...

It calls out that weapons and SPELLS list a damage roll... it then continues to state that when you roll damage you also get to add any modifiers, INCLUDING the ability mod that you use to make the attack.

Normally I would think that just means melee/ranged attacks, but the fact that it calls out spells makes me question if you would add wis/int to magic attacks damage as well...

Yes you add your ability bonus to spell damage.



After a brief perusal of the spells supplied in the play test I think the developers need to sit down and re-examine their design goals. None of these spells are particularly good. I certainly don't want to use them. As they now stand they are awful and really need to find their way into a trash bin.

Damage output was nearly doubled
Hit Points lost their Con Score at 1st level. (halved at 1st)
XP totals required to level were lowered to 1/3rd the previous
XP awards for killing monsters were doubled or tripled

It's crazy.
