I've reached burn out; waiting for more complete rules. The release of playtest iterations which had only relatively minor revisions from the previous iteration did not help.
 

What number of playtesters do you think are players for whom the D&D Next playtest is there first foray into roleplaying.
Pretty much everyone I DM for, for starters (though I'm pretty sure they don't respond to the surveys).

I've been running D&D Next since the beginning, and I don't see any reason to stop. It's still the best version of D&D for me. If anything, the only thing that upsets me is all the spells and monsters I don't have access to. Also the Rogue. The Rogue is the #1 problem with the playtest rules as they stand. Other than that, well, it's D&D.

As a DM, I found it alot of hard work.
A to make playtesting fun for the players.
B I found the monsters very difficult just to plug in and play, as I can do with 4E
C Because the game is faster I had to prepare more.
From the players point of view. They didn't like character creation, and wizards didn't provide much in the way of pregens. And for some the choices were limited, or unsatisfactory.
So even though the rules may end up being great. As a Dm i've had enough of playtesting. And enough of my players have had enough, that I wouldn't even try and run another playtest.
 

Yes. My regular (4e) campaign takes precedence and always has, but I'll run a playtest session or three every couple of months, and I imagine when the next packet arrives (which I expect to have a bunch of significant changes in it) I'll doubtless run another batch.
 

I've generally run one or two game sessions when a packet comes out, but I'm not the main DM for any of the groups I play in. After the novelty wears off and people want to get back to a regular campaign we switch back to 4e or Pathfinder.
Once the rules stop changing and more character options come out I could easily see switching over myself.
 

I started with the first playtest packet and our group had a lot of fun with the pregenerated characters, but our experience soured once the character creation rules were revealed. I've become increasingly disappointed as the playtest rolled on with the rule system appearing to regress rather than improve. Now I'm mostly disinterested in D&D Next but thoroughly enjoying 13th Age, which offers just about everything I was looking for out of the next edition. Still, I hope that D&D Next succeeds, even if it might not be the system that I was hoping for.
 

For me, it's a combination of fatigue and not really liking the newer material.

The first playtest had its hooks in me with old-school complexity (different complexity levels for different characters, varying from really simple to still pretty simple) and the advantage/disadvantage mechanic. Every playtest since then, I look over and feel like they're not really going to be much simpler than 4e or Pathfinder... at which point, I see no reason to switch.

I'm mostly just sticking around to see if they surprise me. I've been impressed with Mearls's designs before, so there's a good chance he'll wow me with something.

But, really, I don't see how I'll end up playing 5 from the playtests. Which I'm more than fine with, I just hope that they provide some people with the game they want, even if none of those people are me.

Definite fatigue. Stopped about 3 packets ago. Too much change each packet for it to be much fun, and was getting in the way of regular sessions.

I figure I will just whine and moan at every article Mike, James, and Jon write until I see the actual product. ;)

I actually am OK with most everything I have seen so far rules-wise. But this whole story and aesthetic unification of The D&D Experience (tm) is killing any enthusiasm I did have. Will wait and see what the final product looks like. Fornow, 4e and Moldvay/Cook/Marsh have all our bases covered.
 

I'm still DMing one group. I run mini campaigns (or long adventures) with each playtest package. Right now we continue, but it feels a little hollow since we are waiting for the next release.
