Playtest Report: Player's Perspective (long)

We were searching. In fact, I was doing the ol' "10 foot pole prodding the floor" search. He decided that since the trigger was a protrusion from the wall we didn't detect it and just had to avoid. Again, no big deal, but I would have done it differently.

Ah, I see your point. That's pretty old-school of him!

She had it memorized, but it doesn't help THEM understand her. Or does it now? :)

Dang, good point! :) You're absolutely right. I'm sure a crafty wizard could come up with some way of communicating, though. Like using hand gestures to indicate ideas, then having the kobold repeat the message back to make sure it had it right. Kind of reminds me of my college campaign. The DM informed us that because of worldwide magical interference, all sending/message type spells tended to get patchy and drop words. I asked how many words would get dropped, and he said about half on average. So we just started sending messages with every word doubled: "Take take the the archers archers to to the the ravine ravine at at dawn dawn" and so on. Where there's a spell, there's a way! ;)

Light spell cast on the defender dwarf's hammer gave bright light (disadvantage to kobolds) to offset advantage from greater numbers.

I completely missed that the light spell was defined as bright light and thus triggered the light sensetivity flaws. Oh well, it's a play test.

Presumably when the proper formatting is done keywords like that will have a font or color change to draw attention to them.

Given the two common complaints (at least from 3E/4E fans) of: 1. no way to obstruct movement, and 2. the fighter being a bit weak sauce, I'm wondering if Mearls comment about adding another theme might be better served by mixing it with his comment in the chat about some simple opportunity attack and/or blocking options, fighter only.

For example, he said they flirted with having movement stop when a creature entered a threatened space. Give the fighter an extra "blocker" theme with that ability, and it might satisfy both criteria.

I won't be able to try it for another week or so. So far, those issues are the only ones that give me pause.
