Playtested our Action Point critical weapon burn rule

We playtested our rule to burn an action point to knock a critical to a normal hit. The catch is that you can break a weapon/2 AC points or a shield.

The players like it. Anything to reduce damage. Since we're in a lower magic game and it won't go above 12th level, it should work well. For those players who can't live without their coveted items...well, they'd be in for a surprise.

The one tweak we did is to allow ANYTIME armor/weapon/shield break in exchange for a miss on a regular attack..but to avert a critical takes a critical.

Interesting results..espcially with our CON=1st level HP's rule...

I was thinking of doing the very thing, as in my next campaign there will be no crit confirmation rolls. A crit threat is an actual crit. "300" had a big impact on me, evidently.
