Please critique my campaign web site/house rules

Not too bad; I like it, overall.

  • I like your Cure Disease alterations. I just might adapt something like that to my games....

  • Also cool is your choice on sticking within a single pantheon for your game; it helps to create and maintain themes in the game's elements such as culture, npc identities, etc.

  • I'm not sure that I care for the banned spell list. The limits you've imposed is not exactly new; I've seen other people nerfing utility spells. It would irritate the crap out of me as a player...but...as a critique of your stuff, at least it is consistent and you've explained your reasoning well.

  • I really don't care for the 'Buff Spell'-held-til-discharged rule. Not only could a low-level caster with either Craft Wond. Item, Scribe Scroll, or Brew Potion take advantage of the Insta-Power-Up...but, I agree with a previous statement of taking away from players' creative work on surprising an opponent.

OH LONG-DEAD THREAD!
I COMMAND YOU TO RISE FROM YOUR GRAVE!!!!

Well, after a long delay, my D&D group finally moved on to my campaign. As the original responders might note, a few things have changed, and I've expanded things here and there.

We have yet to test out the Multiple Ally Bonus, which certainly has a few of the group's members concerned. I'm pretty sure it will work just fine.

Once the campaign's set pieces were trotted out, we're tackling Michael Kortes' "Final Resting Place" from Dungeon 122. It's a third level adventure, but everone's at a +1 Level Adjustment, so I think we'll be OK.

The players took the bait, and no one picked a "typical" race. (In our 8 years of playing over four campaigns or so, we've only had one non-standard race in the party.)
In the group is:
  • A Fire Mephling sorcerer.
  • A Half-Giant Hexblade.
  • A Tiefling Swashbuckler.
  • A Tiefling Rogue.
  • (Fifth player absent for 1st session, so we may still get a standard race)
