You've got some good suggestions already. You might find the retroclones like Basic Fantasy and Swords and Wizardry the most convenient and versitlile and there's certainly all the support material you could want with those. I'd stay away from AD&D or Osric or Runequest if its quick and uncomplicated you prefer as those games are anything but. C&C kinda sits in the middle of the comlicated spectrum, but its certainly less complicated than what you have been playing. While I'm at it I might as well plug my own Dragons at Dawn, although there is no setting material desigend specifically for it, it is very easy to use with any of the classic adventures and settings with AC usually being about the only thing one needs to convert in most situations. http://www.lulu.com/content/paperback-book/dragons-at-dawn/8609478
