Please help me with this class of items for Monks

One of the big problems with playing a monk is that while you get to use your fists, that's all they ever are. Other characters get weapons with all sorts of special qualities, like Flaming Burst, Holy, and more.

So what to do? Sure the character can use Monkish weapons with these qualities but that's not as cool. What would be a suitable item? What about the issue of slots? Whatever slot you choose, you're effectively losing that slot relative to other classes.

Try an available feat to lose those Unarmed Strike blues: Versatile Unarmed Strike (PH II). No need for a magic item.

I think there's an item in savage species that lets you add enhancements to your natural attacks.

Monks might not have as many options for items, but that's an advantage. W/o having to buy weapons/armor they've got alot more money for other stuff. They can sve up for that monk's belt.

Deciding the type of damage isn't as cool as the various weapon special effects.

Options:

Gauntlets - thoughts on the applicability of gauntlets to a monk's unarmed attacks are mixed.

Kensai - choose unarmed strike as your weapon of choice.

Enlightened Fist/Sacred Fist - other options to beef up unarmed strikes with flavor.

Feats - there are all kinds of Fiery Ki strike feats out there.

Necklace of Natural Weapons from Savage Species. Takes up the amulet slot, but worth it.

Bracers of Striking sounds the best suggestion. How would you cost it with regard to the special qualities etc? Same as a weapon?

Well, personally I would not allow the Bracers of Striking at all. Monks already get huge damage with their fists, no needto allow them to have all the weapon effects aslo.

Same with Bracers of armor for me. You want armor special abilities, buy armor.

But at the least I would say 1.5 times as expensive as a weapon, due to changing the slot.
