Please keep OT threads to a minimum!

There's a sudden surge in OT threads, and we'd like to avoid that. Remember the guidelines: if it's not about gaming, please think twice before posting, and don't post new OT threads when there are more than a couple on the main page.

In particular, "help with computers" threads should be posted in the meta forum if they're posted here at all.

But I liked the off topic threads! It gave these boards a much more real sense of community to think that members could step off topic for a second to ask for advice or to talk about shows that we know most people here are interested in (buffy) I don’t even really mind when people post topics about Lucas anymore, it gave the boards a more universal “nerd chat” feeling – I say that meaning no offense to anyone, and although I don’t appreciate being called a nerd – hey I played sports goshdarnit – I have noticed in my time on these boards that many of the members are proud of our nerdlieness.

I would like to second what Methinkus just said.

Universal nerd-chat is the primary reason I come here... if we're being restricted to less non-D&D topics, I think we'll lose some of the community feel here.

i'll second what doc says and third what methinkus says....i didn't think the OT threads were a problem. the thing is i LIKE talking about things other than d&d WITH the people hear. one might say that "you can go to another message board to talk about those things"....but the thing is, i don't know or like the people on those message boards. i know and like the people here.

respectfully, ease up on this area. as always, let the people decide. if an OT thread has no interest, it will slip in a matter of no time.

Well, it looks like I'm a dissenter here. I don't mind OT threads, but much of the time, people are not good at looking to see if a topic is already in existance before posting. I know I've been guilty before.

I don't think PC and the Sunshine Band are going to come down too hard, heck I've seen PC post in a lot of OT threads, but lately it's been hard to sift through the chaff to get to the wheat, y'know what I mean?

I say: Props to the Admins and Mods for keeping us indirectly headed in the right direction, if we don't go wild, we won't even notice...

(I think of it more as the police officer who flashes his lights at me for driving 5 over the limit than I think of it as a speed trap, cut they bosses a bit of slack, eh?)

Is there a reason for not having an OT forum for everything non-RPG? Dumpshock has The Lounge for just this matter.

I disagree: let the board owners and moderators decide. I'll support whatever they do.

That said, I'll sure miss the OT threads if they're cut way back. Sometimes they're the only one's interesting to me.
