Please keep OT threads to a minimum!

I would like to second what Methinkus just said.

Universal nerd-chat is the primary reason I come here... if we're being restricted to less non-D&D topics, I think we'll lose some of the community feel here.

Add my vote to Methinkus and Dr Midnight.

I don't post much, on or off topic but I enjoy the community here quite a bit.

Dont know much about computers or bandwith... but wouldnt erasing some of the older threads help out a lot ? There are loads of old OT threads ... loads of Newbie question threads ... some repeated threads as well. Part is lack of search function which makes the same doubts be asked...

Nuh, I don't think they influence the boards speed. They would influence the search function, maybe, if it was active. The server basically needs more RAM, but Morrus doesn't have physical access to the server and can't tell the guys who own it to just put 256 more megs in it. He can only upgrade to the next package, which is incredibly costly.

I agree with PCat. I like some OT threads, but not a dozen of them.

Folks, P-cat didn't say we were to eliminate all OT discussion. He merely asked us to keep the number of OT threads down a touch. He's asking for moderation, not elimination.

Keeping them down a little is a compromise - aside from simply not wanting to run an OT board, separating out OT threads would lessen the community feel that the Doc and others like. But, we don't want the board overrun with non-gaming stuff. So, they allow some, but not too much OT discussion. They are being reasonable, so let us be reasonable too.

We are being reasonable. The users of the board are voicing their opinion. They are not threatening leaving, starting a newboard or hunting down the moderators. We are just expressing that we enjoy the overall feel of this board. I also like many of the OT stuff. I do not think they have been a buren to the boards, well except that olympic skating thing that went on sooooo looooong. But I respect their right. It was only one or two threads.
