Blind-Sight 5-foot Radius [General] REQ: Base Attack bonus 4+, Blind-Fight, Wisdom 19+
Using senses such as acute hearing and sensitivity to vibrations, you detect the location of opponents who are no more than 5? away from you. Invisibility and darkness are irrelevant, though you cannot discern noncoporeal beings. Except for the decreased range, this feat is identical with the exceptional ability of blindsight defined in the Monster Manual. Sword and Fist, pg 5.

Please rate from 1 to 10. This will be used as a Weighting factor for a random feat generator.

Thank You Scott

Random feat generator? Don't like the sound of that.

Characters are built with purpose. Random feats will give you a list of either a bunch of feats that don't make sense, or a bunch of the common feats with little variation.

THis is a great feat, for certain people. It's very situational. So, if my game is iun the underdark and I'm human I might take this feat.

It's a great feat if you have the pre-requisites and the feats to spare. However, those prereqs are very difficult and only monks and clerics are likely to meet them. Since both classes have a very limited number of feats, it's a good choice but hardly a feat everyone will choose. The feat could be extend spell, persistent spell, spell focus, greater spell focus, or an item crafting feat for clerics. For monks, it could be dodge, mobility, spring attack, weapon focus: unarmed, weapon finesse: unarmed, etc.

It's also significant that it costs two feats: blindfighting isn't too useful once you get blindsight. (And blindsight doesn't offer huge advantages over blindfighting. . . .)

PCat, blindsight 5' radius is a published feat in S&F, not a homebrew feat; since he's asking for judgements on its utility, doesn't it properly belong under general discussion or rules?

(My apologies if this shoulda been emailed to you -- I wasn't sure)

I would have guessed D&D Software, myself. (Random feat generator as software, right?)

I voted low, as I think it's a niche feat - it can be great, but only in the right situations.

If it is done correctly this doesn't happen.

Anybody who uses Jamis' Bucks generators would disagree with you about how useful it is to have feats randomly selected.
