Salutations,

The monk-lover in my group swears by this feat, but then he always forgets when he is supposed to declare the use of this feat.

As a matter of personal taste I usually avoid feats that give boring quantitative advantages. I prefer feats that give more of a qualitative improvement.

That said, this is a pretty solid feat for a low to low-medium level monk who wants a little more pop in his attack.

I rate this average. It is pretty attractive at low levels, but looks a little weak at high levels. A 5th level monk with d8+2 damage normally, boosts his average damage 38%. Nothing to sneeze at if your party needs a little extra muscle.

I'm playing a 1 monk/4 paladin/3 sacred fist. I have bought Fists of Iron because it's one more limited use ability to add to my already impressive stack of one a day abilities. (Smite Evil, Smite from Destruction domain, 1 Stun, and the various Inflict Spells). Being able to do d6+d4(FoI)+8(4str,4Smite)+d6 Fire+2d8+3(Inflect,Will half) and a Stun once a day is neat-o!

My Monk/Fighter went the way of high Dex, high Wis, low Str.

I needed the extra damage since weapon specialization was far down the road.

Having the choice between Stunning, and Iron Fist extra damage was very good. I only got up to 4th level, but it worked well for me. I'd take it again.
