Say, Elder:
Why spiked chain? Is it's reach 15' if it's a huge weapon? <=Clueless.

Otherwise, the large creature already has 10' reach.....
20'. PHB132: "Large or bigger creatures with reach weapons can strike out to double their natural reach..."

My players learned this one the hard way. Scrag + Improved Trip + Large and In Charge + Combat Reflexes + huge Guisarme = RBDM at work.

That RBDM trick is SO noted and tucked away for a rainy day.

Is a spiked chain (size L weapon, normally) a reach weapon for size large creatures??? How about for size huge creatures? Collosal creatures? This could get ridiculous......

It is not a reach weapon for the creature unless it is a size larger. So a troll (large) would have to use a huge spiked chain to get that benefit (threatened area up to 20 ft).

I believe it's meant as a mounted feat like Trample.

Or am I totally wrong? I really should look at the books before I post.

I sorta agree. This would be a great feat if a mounted character could use it. Unfortunatlly the wording implies that the HORSE would need to have the feat, not the rider. I'd be willing to bet this is just another problem with editing and development from Mr. "Halfling Outrider-gets-no-BAB" Carl.

It could work out for a mounted druid or ranger though if they choose to advance their animal companion instead of getting a new one.

Sound reasonable. Where's the reference?

Drat! I was hoping you wouldn't ask that :) I'm extrapolating off a few different references, actually. The main one is the reference to "Large or Bigger Creatures with Reach Weapons" (PHB, pg.132), which says that large or bigger creatures with reach weapons can strike out to double their natural reach, and uses the example of an ogre with an ogre-sized longspear (which is a huge weapon). So apparently the reach weapon has to be sized for the creature, which is to be one size larger. I remember there were a couple of creatures in the MM and/or MM2 which used such weapons. The ogre was originally written with a huge longspear, but later errataed to replace it with a ranged weapon.
