Please rate this Incarnum soul meld...

One of the groups players made this for his Totemist/Fell Caller.

I haven't seen any problem as such so far, but I don't have too much experience with soulmelds. He keeps the same ones active all the time (AC enhancement). I'm not sure how the power levels work.

Chakra: Brow (totem)
Save: none
Effect: Grants the meldshaper Low-Light vision.
Essentia: Darkvision 30ft/essentia point invested.
Chakra Bind (Brow): Meldshaper gains the Benefits of the Combat Reflexes feat.
Additionally,
each point of invested Essentia grants an additional attack of opportunity each
round.
Chakra bind (totem): Meldshaper gains Fast Healing equal to the amount of
essentia invested.

Hmm, doesn't look too bad, but I'd probably cut the Darkvision to 20'/essentia instead of 30'/essentia.

Even a little bit of fast healing is strong, and this would be one of the very few ways for PC's to gain unlimited self-healing. It may need some sort of limit; along the order of 2*Level rounds per day or so.

(then again it may not; the totem chakra bind is a pretty high opportunity cost for the Totemist...)
 


I understand that the essentia used for any one ability has a limit based on level. I think it maxs at four without feats and such.

Is there anyway this can be circumvented or abused?
 

well, as it stands, this would allow a 1st level totemist to gain Fast Healing 1, which is pretty darn good. That would be my greatest concern

I think the fast healing is WAY to strong for a Totem Bind. Compare it to the Phoenix Belt. The Belt is limited to fast healing/1, has some (Easy to get around) limitations, and it's a Waist bind, meaning the earliest a Totemist can have it is level 14. Your version is available at level 2, and will essentially give an easy method to get Fast Healing/2 at early levels. Considering how many totemist builds seem to use the feat that increases capacity, that's Fast Healing/3 at low level. As is, it's on par with the Heart Binds IMO or maybe even the VERY rare Soul Bind.

The Combat Reflexes WITH bonus seems a bit strong for a brow bind too. The few Level 9 Binds that give bonus feats give JUST the feats. I'd say limit it to just Combat reflexes, or make it an 'emulative' ability granting an extra AOO equal to the invested essentia.

Several ways. Totemists have an increased cap of +1 essentia with Totem Binds. Next, There is a feat that lets any Incarnum user increase the cap of a single bind that they chose when creating their melds for the days. Additionally, there is a magical item that adds +1 to a single bind type, depending on the item in question, it matches up to the meld location. Lastly, certain Prestige Classes can also allow increases in caps, such as the Totemic Rager.
 

Thanks for the insights. Did some research, and it turns out this ability is very overpowered.

I might allow the Combat Reflex ability as a waist or throat chakra. Back to the drawing board.
