Of course you could always choose feats for flavor. Not all feats are equal and I guess it depends what kind of character you want. Sure magic missle is a great spell, but it's nice to see casters that don't take it.

But again that's just flavor. I don't need to have the most powerful and optimized character to have fun. To each their own.

Point Blank shot is useful for wizards in that it is a prerequisite for Precise Shot, which removes the -4 penalty for shooting into Melee.

This helps wizards who focus on Ranged Touch Attacks, and the +1 damage helps low damage spells like Ray of Frost.

Also, the +1 attack from Point Blank Shot would apply to all the attacks in a Volley, only the +1 damage would be limited to a single attack roll.

Is that right? When the The Sage said "...only the first is thrown with any degree of percision, the rest are just along for the ride.." (wrt shuriken), it almost sounds like both to hit and damage.

If there's something that clearly states otherwise, that's cool and I'd appreciate it for my notes :)

That statement was in reference to the damage bonus. You still get the attack bonus. You are still more accurate than normal, just not precise enough to get the extra damage.

They had to create an artificial distinction between being accurate (just hitting your target) and being precise (hitting your target in a specific vulnerable spot) to prevent the sneak attack damage from applying.

Besides, if an attack bonus indicated a precise shot, wouldn't you get an attack bonus on sneak attacks, or extra damage if you have a lot of attack bonuses?

Yeah, I knew it was in reference to damage, but I guess I was reading too much into the word "precision" in that I took it mean to hit and to hit well (as opposed to just to hit well).
