Polar Express 'creepy'?

The book is something of a classic children's Christmas book. Very popular and I enjoyed reading it to my daughter many times each holiday season. No particular strong emotion towards the movie one way or the other. If my daughter (now almost 13) is interested in seeing, we'll go and I'll probably enjoy it.

Of course if you are looking for a film adaptation of the book, I hear the only lines from the book are the first and last lines. Everything else is "inspired by" the book. But then again this is what Chris Van Allsberg does when he allows his books to become films. Jumanjii was another book by the author with much the same idea - "inspired by" very little actually from the book and many people thought that movie was pretty good.

They also liken the motion capture in this movie to that of Gollum in LotR, but Gollum seemed so much more real. I think the characters in Polar Express lack the fine "texture" and their skin move in a more plastic manner.

Yeah, well, the movie would pretty much HAVE to only be inspired by the book. I mean, what's the book? 32 pages? Each page a single plate with some text? (going from memory here) A true adaptation would be about a ten-minute movie.
