Until 2001, I would have had to say the original Star Wars Trilogy. But that opinion has been changed since I saw The Lord of the Rings. Never before have I seen movies that affected me in such a profoundly emotional way. Sure, movies have brought tears to my eyes, but Lord of the Rings consistently made me cry....and laugh....and thrill. Plus, the visuals and the effects were top-notch for the most part.

3. Back to the Future

I've not seen the Godfathers yet if folks are wondering why that's not there. I can't recall any other trilogy sets either. Lots of Bonds, Freddy, Jason, 4 Highlander films, etc.
