Poll: Favored class & why?

What is your favorite class?

I love playing a fighter because I like being the one to take direct action - let others worry about sneaking around in the shadows, or skulk around at the back of the party because they're too weedy to take a blow, I want to kick that door down and face things head on!

my job moved me around a lot, couldn't stay in a group, and when 3E came along, I just didn't have time to learn it/play it/ become familiar with it.

Fair enough, I know how that is when you move around a lot and can't stay with a group for a nice period of time. Hopefully you can start up again soon and have a good group to do it with if that's what you are looking for.

Definitely magic-user. Although I have had a great deal of fun with warriors as well, the mage has tended to be my favorite class over time.

Bards.

I love playing social/support characters.
High skill points and all Knowledge skills are swell.
Having the ability do most anything means I'm never just standing around idle.
Spontaneous caster FTW.
I also enjoy multi-classing. Bard is a natural fit for any kind of multi-classing.
PF made them so much better.

Close seconds include the Cloistered Cleric variant and the PF Oracle.

My first character in Basic D&D 24 years ago was a magic user. Over the years I was usually in groups where people didn't want to mess w/all those spells. Occasionally someone else would want to play a wizard and I would run a thief or very rarely more of a sword and board type. I'm actually playing a Rogue in our Revenge of the Giants campaign, altho we did start that game w/a wizard I had created that a friend of mine was playing. Casters still seem to do the best for me after all these years
