I do what i like... i don´t mind over or underpowered players if the game is fun... and its more fun, if players get some nice +X weapons...

giving out a +3 weapon at level 3 or 4? its the same as assigning a 16 to strength instead of a 10... you just have to make sure that all players have fun.

its a team game... if the striker strikes harder, all have a better life...

D&D is great for playing D&D, but things often get muddled when attempting to make D&D play like something else. However, I would interested in running a no-magic D&D game where it was just Rogues, Rangers, Warlords and Fighters against a world of monsters and evil sorcery. I will be interested in seeing how taking the +X out of the item and added to the hero will actually work in gameplay.

Or I could just play Warhammer.

Magic items, weapons, and armor will still be given out in my game, exactly as written except for the bonuses to attack, damage, and defenses. All +x effects are going to be dropped, and I will not be compensating for it by giving the PCs more ability modifiers. I'm just going to tailor my monsters more to the campaign world I've created.

On the rare occasions when I actually play 4e, at least.

Depends on the game. For a classic fantasy game, I would have some mix of built in bonuses or items that get more powerful. Each character would only have a few items- probably 1 major and 1 minor per tier.

For Eberron, I'd go all out, and probably increase the price PC's can get from other items, because in Eberron magic is effectively technology.

But I can also see running POL as written. I love that there's an "out of the box" version of the game that (hopefully) just works for one-shots, beer and pretzel gaming, and cons.
