Please sticky for a month or two for maximum exposure.

Generally speaking, stickied threads get less, rather than more, traffic. Stickies are good for 'I need everyone to be able to find it if they need it", but not so good for "get traffic to actually go into the thread".

And, in any case, the production decisions have been made - this is rather like starting a petition to save a TV show after the sets have been struck, and the cast has moved on to other projects. In theory, they could put it back together, but it'd be costly and time consuming to do so. I'd only expect such a move after they have evidence (rather than internet opinion) that the new thing will not work well enough.

Not trying to be a downer here, but I think you're wasting your time with this. To begin with, online petitions like this have never worked, you'd be better off with a hand written petition. Additionally, I believe WotC has already made up their mind on this, Paizo has gone on to other things, and I doubt they could reverse the decision now if they wanted to.

Time to move on, guys.

Well, I don't have the luxury of going door to door to find other gamers that may sign a written petition. I would, if I was going to Gen Con, but I'm not, so I can't :uhoh: :o :(

I guess I see your point on stickies, thanks.

Sure it may not do any good, but it makes some of us feel better that at least we tried.

I voted other:

1. I am interested to see how Paizo does with unbridled writing. No longer does their content have to cross the desk at WoTC... this could be really good. From the previews I have seen at Paizo, I have little doubt it is going to be some top notch stuff.

2. I am interested in seeing this new Digital Initiative world. As long as I have an option to print whatever I bought I am fine with it. There are some really nice enhancements you get when going digital... most that likely have work around out there but none are "official". I anticipate similar levels of content to what we were seeing in Dungeon and Dragon, only more timely, and with nice bonus features... imagine scaling an adventure with a click of a button.

3. Change is good, technology is even better. I see stagnation all the time at my work, and when I come into a department that has been doing the same thing for 20 years because that's the way it's always been done, the first thing I think of is how can we leverage computers to make things more efficient? Of course, I work in IT and would naturally think of that :)

Yeah, I will miss Dungeon and Dragon after the September issues arrive, but that shock has worn off me now, and I am looking forward to the future.

Pretty much, my sentiments exactly.

Dungeon was pretty much the last adventure based resource that I was buying in print form. I want my resources in digital format so that it's easier to store and archive. I'm in the middle of a move right now and if I told you the sheer amount of space my RPG collection takes up...(and that's after donating 95% of my 1st and 2nd edition stuff to a library a few years ago).

With PDF's I print what I need and can modify things on the page. With PDF the content is still valuable, it's the medium that has become expendable. I like reading from a printed page too, but storage has become too big of an issue for me at this point and I like being able to make notes and write on my material.

As has already been mentioned, it is too late to keep Dungeon or Dragon alive in their current known form.

The best that can be hoped for is a similar format under different names. And probably at a higher cost.

Well, WOTC is wrong, just look at the poll. Granted it is a small sampling, but even out of that small sampling (and yes I know it is very small so far compared to how many people are on this board) it already suggest that 80% want it at least left the way it was.
The problem is your poll is self-selecting. You say in the thread title to "sign the 'Keep the Dragon Magazine' poll/petition" Of course most of the people who vote in the poll will be voting for keeping it. Those not interested in keeping the magazines won't bother voting in the poll and won't be interested in signing a petition.

If it makes you feel good, I guess that's fine, but I hope you don't convince yourself that you will actually make any difference with this poll. The only thing that might bring back the magazine is if the DI makes less profit than the print magazines ever did, or if in a few years there is a sea change at WotC and the new leadership realizes that, whether digital or print format, the brand names Dragon and Dungeon are worth restoring to cash in on the recognition they bring.
