[Poly] World War II Mini-Game

Katowice

Explorer
I was attempting to write-up some campaign-specific d20 Modern rules for a World War II mini-game that I intended to submit to Polyhedron. When I wrote to Erik Mona about some submission guidelines, I got the following response:

I’m just now putting the final editorial touches on a World War II mini-game that will appear in the next issue of Polyhedron. Given the specificity of the niche, I probably won’t have need for another such game in the foreseeable future.

Thanks for writing,

Erik Mona
Editor, Polyhedron

Looks like we know what to expect next issue!

Thanks for providing me with an object lesson in how important it is to be evasive in emails, Katowice.

Yes, it's true. The next issue of Polyhedron will feature Dogface, the d20 mini-game of World War II infantry combat. A stand-alone d20 System game, Dogface casts you in the role of a soldier in the world's greatest conflict. With dozens of new feats, expanded cover rules that help to simulate realistic WWII combat, and more era-appropriate weapons than the entire Red Army, Dogface lets you assume the role of a soldier or partisan on any side of the conflict.

Written with loving attention to historical detail by Chris Pramas, Green Ronin Publishing's head man and designer of the Origins Award-winning "Death in Freeport," Dogface hits subscribers on January 24th and appears on newsstands on the 11th of February.

Buy it instead of war bonds.

D'oh! Sorry for letting the cat out of the bag. Normally you are cryptic about this stuff when you don't want us to know about it too early.

I just have to chip in on what great news this is. I can't wait!

I notice that Eric M. says it's a "stand-alone d20 System game".

I assume that means it will slip right in as a flavor setting for d20 Modern? Or will it somehow vary quite a bit?

I mean, new feats, and adding the BAR, M1, M3, MP40, etc. to the weapons list? That's all good. Even new cover rules are ok. I just hope it's consistent (we just started the transition from Weird Wars to d20 Modern, hate to make TOO many tweaks again so soon.)

And Eric, don't worry about the tip-off by Katowice, I subscribe anyway!

Damn it!!! They're making it harder each issue to resist picking up the magazine. Now we need to convince the 'powers that be' to publish Dungeon and Polyhedron in seperate magazines, releasing them on alternating months. I would definitely subscribe to Polyhedron, which is what I can't say for the Dragon and Dungeon mags

Actually, a tip off from the writers, or whoever would be responsible, is a good idea. It may motivate some people, like me, into subscribing to it:) .I would like to see a list of the next 4 or 6 minigames coming up and I'm sure I'm not the only one.

Now the big question:

"Saving Private Ryan" or "Sgt. Fury and his Howling Commandos"?

The glory of the d20 system is that I already have the resources on my shelf to have the squad of Joes fight Nazi dinosaurs, Nazi Chtuhlu, Nazi Sith Lords, and Nazi liches...

But what about Nazi Sith Dino-Cthulu Liches? ;)

Yeah, d20 can handle that, too. :)

Daaaaamn right.

I think that would be a fine way to run a WWII campaign. Every adventure, you bust out another strange concept.

Talking apes. Mecha. The walking dead. Viking gods. Aliens.

But just as long as our Joes see that swastika, they know who to shoot.

WAAAA-HOOO!
