I was browsing my local big-box bookstore when I came across an oddity tucked next to a stack of Dragon and Dungeon magazines. It was a relatively-cheaper magazine calling itself Polymancer - alternatives for gamers. I picked it up and haven't been dissapointed. It's put out by a group in Quebec, Canada, and aims at being a system/setting neutral magazine. There's an article here about rules lawyers, another about making RPG settings your own, there's a horror adventure, a minis article (general minis, not WotC minis), a Play-By-Email article, and more. I'm really impressed. It certainly doesn't have the production values of the Paizo magazines, but its writing is smart and is refreshingly crunch-lite.
I seem to have picked up Volume 1, Issue 1, but there's no date on it. There may be more. I'm seriously considering a subscription.
Has anyone else encountered Polymancer? If so, what are your thoughts on it?
