Polymorph for cosmetic surgery effects?

Can you use polymorph other to turn people into more attractive versions of themselves? Fat into skinny, flabby into toned, ugly into attractive, old into youthful appearance (not affecting actual age mods)... all with no particular game mechanics, just cosmetic "plastic surgery" type effects. The spell description seems to back me up on this, but I'd like a second opinion.

Yes. Polymorph Self allows you to designate the minor details of your new form to your own specifications, so long as they fall within the normal range of the form. So a fat wizard could become an in-shape wizard. As you've already pointed out, there'd be no game mechanics bonus (no bonus to charisma or Diplomacy, for instance).

Just to offer a second opinion, I agree with what Lord Pendragon has already said

It might be a bit extreme though, since it would set your physical stats to the average score for the character race...nullifying whatever exceptional (ie - over 10 for humans) stats the character may have had.

An item that let its wearer use Change Self or Alter Self might be preferable.
