Polymorph Self -- Favorite Uses

Thanks for the link, Henrix. You just saved me $20!

[Lucius...print that page for your records!]

For my records or for use in our game? :) You've just seriously depowered one of my best spells. How's this for a compromise: I'll take this version of the spell, but there's no limit to what I can change into based on what I've seen (i.e., if I polymorph into it, assume that I've seen it at some point in my travels). Since I can't polymorph into a Pit Fiend or Iron Golem or any creature over 15 HD, no need to worry about me abusing this. Agreed?

How about you and I discuss it instead of on the message board? Besides, it's official errata--and therefore not me "depowering" your spell.

That's a house rule that has been around since early 2E for me, and I don't think it's too out of hand. Believe me, I'm very open about what he can and can't change into.

Here is a thread showing how it would be well-nigh impossible for me to "depower" Polymorph Self.

I agree. Besides, Tom's always depowering spells and then blaming it on some article he read in Dungeon magazine or from some inspirational dream he had. In the past month, he's ruled:

1. Magic missles don't hit you if you make a hide check at DC 20.

2. Nobody believes illusions, except really, really, stupid creatures.

3. Dwarves can't be Wizards.

4. Elves are "magical" beings and therefore aren't affected by most spells.

5. Orcs can run under wagons.

6. If you let one of his NPCs die, you don't get pizza during a game break.

Truly, he is a bastard, albeit a magnificent one.
