Polymorph Self

Having trouble clarifying the Polymorph Self spell. Would I, as an 8th level Wizard (3rd /3.5 Edition) be able to Polymorph myself into a Frost Giant (Large)? What differences should I have (HD, HP, AC, etc.) My DM is OK with it, but is wondering if I need to be the corresponding level (14) to turn myslef into a creature with that many Hit Dice (14). Is this true?

Yep. Can't turn into something with more HD than you have, pre-epic, anyway.

You need to have a caster level as high as the Hit Dice as the creature you want to polymorph into and you (or the target) needs to have as many Hit Dice as the creature also.

Both must be given, so, typically you need to be 14th level to turn into a 14 HD creature.

Frost Giants do not have 8 HD, so no.

Just turn into a Rhemoraz like everyone else and get it out of the way. That way the DM can ban or restrict the spell like they do to me whenever I pull that trick.
