Have you considered the Iaijutsu Master?

It also gets canny defense, and sits well with wakizashi wielding.

Two weapon is not a feature though.

Of course, the Bladesinger PrC also gets canny defense.

Heh, I actually thought about the Iaijustu Master as well, because they really do come much closer to Alariel than most others. Unfortunately, as you said, it doesn't deal much with the two-weapon fighting, and once again, the addition of Canny Defense hasn't been worked into Alariel from the get-go. Plus, if I'm not mistaken, it's based on the katana (I don't currently have my OA book in front of me).

The Bladesinger won't work at all. Alariel never cast spells. She relied on a friend to make her a Ring of Spell Storing to which stored several key spells: Haste, Stoneskin and Antimagic Field. This is another unfortunate situation, because a Ring of Spell Storing cannot hold more than 10 levels of spells anymore.

Damn my anal-retentive need to hold true to the original!

Hello all. Just thought I'd post the link to a portrait of Alariel, an elven kensai I had been playing for some 8+ years now. She was retired back near the end of 2nd edition, but she is being brought out of retirement with the advent of the Epic Level Handbook.

The portrait was drawn by a friend of mine for the MMORPG Shadowbane, where I am planning to port over Alariel. She's managed to capture the image I've had of Alariel in my head for 8 years. Enjoy! =)

Even though I'd already seen the top-half of the pic in your sig it was still great to see the whole image. Very nicely done. Your friend has real talent.

Okay, we finally got around to pulling the party that Alariel belongs to out of retirement, so I should have her updated shortly. When I get some time, I'll post a more complete rogue's gallery page of her with some history and such, but, as she was played tonight, she has been settled as a 6/6/8 fighter/monk/weapon master. I'll provide a link to the rogue's gallery when I submit her.

Sadly, she already lost her life (again) tonight, but at least it wasn't a vorpal weapon this time (her previous three deaths were to vorpal weapons).
