Post-Apocalyptic Settings

Well,

Darwin's World 2 is definately the definitive d20 PA game. Can't say enough good things about this game.

Gamma World 3rd Ed. - The best version out there if you can get your hands on it. A lot of things that made it into D20 seem to have been tested in this version of the old classic. Any version since has just been a really pale shadow of this version.

Cyberpunk 203X - Not what you'd think of as a PA game as it's mostly a social apocalypse. It still feels like a PA game but the setting is hightech urban rather than blasted wasteland.

Redline - One of the Horizon line of D20 settings. Very Mad Max from my understanding but I haven't read it personally.

Redline is excellent. But it is far from being a major setting. It was a one-shot mini-campaign, really. Combination of Mad Max and Car Wars, and "The Creep" reminds a bit of zombie apocalypse.

I still feel that the fourth edition of Gamma World was the best. If I were to run a GW today, that would be my choice.

As others have mentioned, Darwin's World is very good.

Most other PA games tend to be one shot products though, so they don't make the "major setting" criteria.

:D Year of the Zombie, for zombie apocalypse.

I have Earth AD2 and it totally rocks.

Could someone give me some more info about this game?
I'm not familiar with PIG, but from what I've seen I'm intrigued!
More info please!
Thanks,
Brutorz Bill

Year of the Zombie is Romero-esque Zombie apocalypse, more of a study in human survival than just a zombie bash-up.

I went through the various effects of the fall of mankind, outlined hazards and the like.

If you want, you can check it out through my sig, just click on the spoiler section and then the core book link.

The much maligned Rifts does have some pretty awesome fluff. Also, check out Systems Failure and After the Bomb by the same company (Palladium) for different takes. Rifts is a hodge podge of magic and super-tech. Systems Failure is quirky half-satirical look at a post apocalypse full of bugs. After the Bomb is post apocalypse TMNT (mutant animals) with the actual TMNT characters and such stripped out due to losing the license.

Have you read the second edition of After the Bomb? It is much improved over the first. I must read the mutant animal section five or six times a year just to play with virtual characters in my head. Spider-goats rock!

I was actually referring to the 2nd edition. The original was just a supplement for the TMNT RPG.
