What would it mean for a spell to have "All Domains"? Do any existing spells have All Domains?

Well, this isn't something that only one kind of Cleric would be able to do - isn't Commune an "All" spell? That's what I was getting at, unrestricted access.

I see this spell as having an Exp cost as well, from either the enhanced recipient or from the caster.

Definitely. For a permanent mental buff, there must be some big cost and/or penalty (to the caster and/or target)!

Hmm.. could this be cast with an (Evil) subtype, so that the exp to power the spell can extracted from a helpless donor?

Just a thought.

Description: This spell causes a ray whcih physically increases the number of connections the target's brain can make, which applies a +2 Compentency bonus to Int, Wis, and Charisma

Jack: I paraphrased your description using SRD phrasing as a template. Some of the other Int, Wis, and Cha buffing spells state that the subject will not gain any additional bonus spells. Do you think this spell should not grant any additional bonus spells? That might be one way to balance this spell..?

This spell is practically a lobotomy ray! Besides a possible XP cost, maybe the subject also receive some physical penalty? I'm trying to imagine possible lobotomy side effects. Maybe something like -2 Dex, -2 Con, or some saving throw penalties to Fort or Will?

Or this could be called the "Rainman Ray": +4 Int, but -2 Wis and -2 Cha? :)

I added a second descriptor: Chaotic. Messing with your brain structure seems much more chaotic than lawful. Does anyone disagree?

Descriptors: [Chaotic, Mind-Affecting]

Heh, yes, I see that. :) Chaos always gets to stir things up.

I don't really want to turn this into a bad, mutating-of-the-target so as to harm.
Want to try this?:

+2 to Target's Int, Wis and Chr scores, -2 to donor's Str, Dex and Con scores, donor expends (ability bonus squared)x40 +(bonus squared)x40 +(bonus squared)x40 =4x40 + 4x40 + 4x40 = 480 exp. Caster must cover the exp. difference if Donor cannot expend the full amount of experience.

How about a simpler but random result: subject receives +d4 Int bonus, but -d6 Wis penalty? I'm imagining this as an "idiot-savant ray" or "neurosurgical ray". :)

lol this has turned out fun! I thought a Divine Ray was strange enough but the Lobotomy Ray is just too cool - I think the target should also be required to make a Will save or else suffer the panicked condition. A second will check must be made after 2 rnds or the panicked condition becomes permanent (ie the lobotomy rays information overload effect has caused insanity - thus justifying the evil/chaotic descriptors)

What do you think would be an appropriate DC for these Will Saves? The usual DC 10 + spell level + caster level? Does a willing subject have a different DC than an unwilling subject? Are there any other spells that differentiate DCs for willing and unwilling subjects?
