Posting Colored Drawings

Drawmack

First Post
I know that many industry professionals frequent these boards (artists, writters, publishers, etc) so I am posting this question in hopes it gets answered by those professionals.
I posted it in general as I feel it's not appropriate for any other single forum do to being geared at all industry professionals.

My GF and I have been coloring in the pictures in some of my suppliments of late so that they have a greater impact at the game table when showed to the players. I am very impressed with some of these and would like to share them with the community. However the original art pieces are PI, but these are not they originals they are drastically modified by having color added to them. If you are a professional in the industry would you care if I posted one of your pictures that I had colored in?

remember drawmack, you won't just be dealing with the artist who made the work, but also the company that owns the work.

i think what you have done is neat, but posting them could be a major hassle.

my 2 coppers worth....

I personally wouldn't mind at all... plus, just posting something doesn't put you in any kind of legal trouble. You're not at risk of anything other than criticism if you just post a picture of Krusk that you colored in, as long as you're not 1. using it to further a project that benefits you financially and 2. aren't being defamatory.

So far they are WotC pictures, some from Enemies and Allies and some from Heart of the Nightfang Spire.

Does this fall under fair use? Is it a significantly modified work? Mind you I wouldn't be selling, charging or using it to publicize another work in any way. Is it really any different then posting a picture of a painted mini?
