You should be able to find it in tea bags in any place that has a good selection of herbal teas. I know Traditional Medicinals has a Yerba Mate. Actually, I have a pack of their Ginger Yerba Mate sitting right here. I'm sure you can get it online as well. You even start to see the loose Yerba Mate in most healthfood stores and some large grocery stores here in the US. (PS: Yerba Mate *does* contain caffeine, which might explain why people drink it despite the taste.Imperialus said:I used to live in Argentina and became hopelessly addicted to this tea they make called Yerba Mate. Some of my favorites... not so much "weird", although somewhat non-standard:
- horchata: mexican rice milk with cinammon, sugar and various other spices
- guarana: another caffeine-containing herbal tea, but with a much smoother "pick-me-up" effect, not as harsh and jittery as coffee
- I once accidentally discovered an almost pitch-black smoothie. Main ingredients, color-wise, are blueberry and spirulina (a powdered freswater algae, almost pure chlorophyl). Apparently, the deep purple of the blueberries and the dark green of the spirulina cancle each other out perfectly. Great for a halloween drink (layer with carrot juice for a nice orange and black theme).
