Power Critical (Ray) + Polar Ray/Disintegrate = Much pain

Power critical on a +3 scythe wielded by a raging barbarian (26 strength) averages 80 points of damage without power attack. Should the character be power attacking for five points of damage, the average damage goes up to 100 points.
Nitpick: Isn't a scythe a two-handed weapon?

If so, it has bad odds of dealing +5 (or any odd number) on a Power Attack in 3.5. ;)

I alway thought this feat was a lot weaker than just using a Coup de Grace weapon.

From SRD
Coup de Grace: Once per day, the wielder can use a full attack action to make one attack that, if it hits, strikes the foe as if the wielder had delivered a coup de grace. On a miss, the use is wasted for the day. Bows, crossbows, and slings bestow this power on their ammunition.
Manifester Level: 18th; Prerequisites: Craft Psionic Arms and Armor, Deep Impact, greater domination; Market Price: +5 bonus.

I don't know whether a feat and a +5 equivalent weapon ability should be equally powerfull.

Coup de Grace (as a special quality) is far better than vorpal, btw: I'd toss out Vorpal and use CdG instead (or change it so that a natural 20 on a Vorpal weapon automatically cecause a CdG)

Just to throw this into the mix, archmage does have that handy arcane reach ability which makes those spells deliverable at range, for the discerning wizard who wants to maximize and empower his touch of idiocy spells.

Archmage's Arcane Reach &

Arcane Trickster's Sneak Attack &

Lesser Maximize Spell Rod &

Power Critical &

Vampiric Touch ?

( The plot thickens )
