Power Lunge and Creatures with Reach

Powerlunge out of WOTC's "Sword and Fist" class spat book says you incur an Attack of opportunity from your foe as you Wrecklessly swing your weapon. Well how the hekc does that work if a Giant with Reach is attacking a Human without reach? Can the Giant Power Lunge without fear of reprisal? Should all Giants take this feat?

I would assume it acts in the same way as a giant attempting to sunder or disarm the weapon of a human without reach. How do you treat the AoO he provokes in those cases?

I might give the aoo on the giant's weapon, but that's about it- so you could try to sunder or disarm it, but incur a preemptive aoo from it yourself.

They incur an AoO. If the target cannot reach the giant, then they can't actually take that AoO, but the opening is still there. They could still attack the weapon or try to disarm, as has been noted before. So, yeah, it's great for giants - or even PCs weilding polearms.

Or heavy lances (which are reach weapons). This has great synergy because you have to charge to use power lunge. Charging with a lance gives you a minimum of x2 damage. And being a one handed reach weapon, you can still have a shield while using it and getting not 1.5x str mod, but 2x str mod.

I thought you couldn't perform an action as an AoO if the action would provoke an AoO itself. Are my wires crossed on this?
