powerful build question

powerful build allows a character to use weapons one size larger with no penalty, it seems this has no effect on the effort required to do so (i.e. a large light weapon= a medium 1 hander, large 1 hander= medium 2 hander, ect.)

My question is whether or not that is the case. Could a goliath character wield a large great club? (or large goliath great hammer:) ).

Also in regards to the Goliath Greath Hammer, is it still considered exotic even for goliaths? my heart really wants it to be a martial weapon for them but i cannot find any text that would agree with my hopes.

Nope. You could take that racial weapon proficiency feat or Exotic weapon Proficiency, but still not auto-proficient.

Yes, a Goliath can use a Large GreatHammer (3d6 damage for Large).

Does the Goliath description provide a Weapon Familiarity note?
(PHB in regards to dwarfs: Weapon Familiarity: Dwarves may treat dwarven waraxes and dwarven urgroshes (see Chapter 7:Equipment) as martial
weapons, rather than exotic weapons.)

I don't have the appropriate book so I can't say for sure.

Nope. Closest thing in that book is the "Improved Weapon Familiarity" feat, which lets you treat any exotic weapon with your race's name in it as martial. All of the alternate gnome and dwarf races have the Weapon Familiarity note, though, so it's not as if they forgot about it.

Unfortunately, there's no weapon familiiarity entry for Goliaths. Stick with a large Greatsword unless you have a burning desire to create a sunder-monkey build.

yeah...it's more about the rule of cool for me. 60 lb hammer = yes. I guess the +2 to sunder is pretty cool. This would be an E6 character though, so i'd hardly be short on feats.
