Alan's Reference Document (ARD) will be a compilation of the standard and d20 Modern SRDs, with a few changes by yours truly. Right now only the dragon general information section is anywhere near ready to go, and that will require some tweaks. It'll be followed by the white dragon entries.

Changes will include the elimination of Feats and Talents, to be replaced by tricks, aptitudes, and abilities. The d20 Modern base classes will be used, along with advanced classes from the d20 Modern SRD, those of my design, and those from other sources. Skills will be presented according to governing characteristic, with class and non-class skill determined by a class's governing characteristic and the class's focus.

Monsters will be classifed by a three tier system, with special qualifiers in brackets. The top tier will include the classifications Animal, Elemental, and Spirit, with such qualifiers as Outsider, Undead, Infernal, and or Celestial in brackets. Tiers two and three will further define the creature, with any specific special quality in brackets thereafter.

For example, a deva would be classified: Animal (Outsider, Celestial), Humanoid, Deva [Magical Talent]. While one of my basilisks would be classified: Animal, Bird, Basilisk [Magical Talent]. If you really must know, a drow would be: Animal, Humanoid, Elf [Magical Talent]

I'll try to get the first installment up on my site before the end of March. Expect and announcement in this forum when it's up. Let me know what you think.

Pretty much. But I am thinking about dealing with the advanced classes as I'm doing with the prestige classes. Your PC learns skills, tricks, aptitudes, and special qualities associated with a class, and becomes known as a member of that class. So a PC could be a Smart Hero (base class)/Librarian(occupation)/Fighter(advanced class)/Ranger(prestige class) with an interesting range of skills, tricks, etc.

BTW, if you thought my original post was neat, wait till you see my dragons. 36 age categories, 'bout a dozen combat tricks, so on and so forth. And all OGC.:D

It'll be a work in perpetual progress.

Quick question: Will your setting be similar to standard D&D in the modern world? If so, you might want to talk with WotC. IIRC, they have asked publisher to not do that until they have released Urban Arcana.

Dragon Earth (my modern day D&D setting) will have it's first release after Urban Arcana hits the street.

I'd add more details. but I'm using a QWERTY keyboard right now instead of my usual DVORK, and it's throwing me off.
