Practiced Spellcaster + Wild Mage = CL?

I wouldn't call it over powered, but I think it actually takes away a lot from the wild mage. The idea is that magic is random, can be good can be bad. This feats gets rid of the bad and really ruins in my eyes the thrill of the wild mage.

Yep, I also see it that way, besides the way I think Practiced Spellcaster works (or should work).

The FAQ has it different, though, didn't know about that part yet.

That's one particular ruling, which I will house rule/ignore, because it collides with the spirit of the rules as I see it. :)

Well, given it is a prestige class, which is the domain of the DM, it SHOULD work however you envision it.

The character I am considering has a background wherein a good Wizard character experimented with the shadow weave (Forgotten Realms - Shadow Weave Magic feat), lost control of some of his wizarding powers as a result (Complete Arcane - Wild Mage PRC), and sought help from the Incantatrars (Forgotten Realms - Incantatrix PRC), who taught him how to repair some of the damage (Practiced Spellcaster feat and Arcane Mastery feat) and control magic better (Incantatrix PRC). To me, the idea that Practiced Spellcaster corrects the flaws inherant in Wild Mage makes sense from a flavor perspective.

Yep, there are always several possible viewpoints, which are viable in their own environment, of course.

The good thing is, that all of them are possible.
