Pre-Painted Miniatures are back!

Since later adventures in the path aren't necessarily finished by the time the first adventure comes out, and because it takes time to sculpt and produce a line of minis, there will naturally be a pretty lengthy gap of time between the release of an adventure path and the release of its accompanying minis set.

Well Paizo knows a good chunk of time what the next AP will be so they do have a bit of a head start. Though they may not know to the exact detail what the critters or NPCs would look like quite as early.

I think people with interest in minis would pick up AP sets as well, just because they are bound to include critters or NPC types they could use in their games even if they weren't playing the AP.

For example, I have seen some people say they would like to see undead packs. A mini set for something like Carrion Crown could likely fill this need as well - even if you weren't playing Carrion Crown.

I just get confused about what WizKids is.

I mean...
...they were founded by Jordan "FASA" Weisman in 2000
...they were bought out by TOPPS in 2003
...TOPPS was bought out in 2006
...Wizkids was closed by TOPPS in 2008
...it was bought and reopened by NECA in 2009

Is there any continuity of staff?

Cheers!

Also, if they were to create minis for every monster/noteworthy NPC in the adventure path, the entire path's minis would probably sell for in excess of $300, even if some encounters re-used minis.

I don't think they should release a set with every mini. I'm thinking of a set with 10-20 minis that features key "boss" enemies and new or reoccurring monsters.

Also they already start working on the Paths pretty far in advanced. I think they could start working on the minis just after they finish the concept art.

With all these glass is half-empty comments on the subject I am curious as to what facets of life aren't over-analyzed by you guys.

Take it at face value. They are putting out a set of Pathfinder Minis.
I know that cheeses off the WOTC faithful that their native WOTC won't put out any miniatures on a quarterly basis (its a Whenever they feel like it basis) and now their major competitor is looking to steal their thunder but you have to move on, she (WOTC) doesn't love you anymore. (D&D Miniatures-wise).

The Pathfinder miniatures can be used for other RPG settings. I know its hard to imagine, using your imagination in an RPG. ITS UN-HEARD OF!!!!

Whether or not there is a turn-over of staff from the company being sold repeatedly effects future sets but I prefer to think in the here-and-now.

I don't know if the example pic of the Pathfinder miniatures is going to reflect the actual quality of the mass produced sets but for right now i'll take their word for it until I see otherwise.
HeroClix World - Wizkids Pathfinder!

I personally can't wait for these new miniatures. Keep up the good work Paizo. Your making ALL THE RIGHT MOVES!!!!!

I'll probably buy it.

Now days I mostly paint minis, but I still like to have prepainted ones for fodder, npcs, etc.

I haven't bought prepainted minis in a while, but this set sounds like something I would like to add to my collection.

I'm trying to find the source of this quote, which I've found on wired.com and the Wizards boards:

"Justin Ziran (WizKids): ... Not trying to hijack anything but I work at WizKids and thought I would pop in clarify. Yes the PF minis will be on 1" bases. Standard RPG stuff not ClixTech bases. Minis are approximately 25mm to 30mm for average M height humanoid. The Paizo set is a 4 figure set, non-random. I hope that helps and I am glad everyone seems so excited."
