Very thoretical for me. I rarely have my characters on horses, even.

But I would go with Roc. Always liked the things. Anything that can take an elephant home for supper has my vote.

Spider Eaters are great because of their maneuverability.

I wouldn't ride a manticore or wyvern. You're practically begging to get a barrage of spikes or a poison stinger jammed into your back.
