A quest for fire based adventure...very simple and fun.

Well started working more on my world and got to thinking about weapons and armor. The problem I am having is should I have metal in this world? Since I am modifying "histroy" anyways.

Arms and Equipment (3.0) has a list of stone-age weapons and armor, as well as penalties for fighting with stone-tools.

Frostburn has alot of useful into: neanderthals, primitive weapons, etc.

As for classes: Fighter, Barbarian, Druid, Scout (CV), Savage Bard (UA), Sorcerer, Spirit Shaman (CD), Warlock (CA), Ranger, and Dragon Shaman (PH2) all fit thematically. Some tweaks and there you go.

Make all the classes illiterate, of course.

UA also has arctic and jungle racial variants, depending on if you want a lost-world or ice-age setting.

If you want metal weapons: consider a "fallen" world that has resorted to barbarism rather than a emerging world.

You also might want to decide what races/monsters "don't exist yet". In this category I would include most half-races, templates, corporeal undead, lycanthropes, and any aberrations that were "Created by crazy wizards" but that is my personal style.

I would play in it, i would help with it, i had one time done a few notes along a similar line...lets talk

as a side note I did a Game Chef game set in the Ice Age if you want that for some ideas let me know or search for it there...

This all depends on what type of era I will have this world in: The Stone Age, Ice Age, Neolithic age (the era before the Iron) or a mix, unrecorded age like Conan's Hyborian Age. i am thinking of doing a unrecorded age with high influence of the Stone Age but with a "birth" of metal making them really rare "the Quest for Metal" type age.

The idea of Smith as mage could be an interesting one for you to include in the game. Or have a slightly advanced culture that is out conquering the other tribes and city states with their bronze weapons. In such a case the PCs might not start out with metal weapons, but could loot them from fallen enemies. Although possession of the weapons could have some negative consequences, like making people fear that they are scouts for the conquering city state or marking them as "kill on sight" by the conquerers.

The "Beastmaster" television series had this kind of world, where someone wielding a metal weapon had everyone amazed... I don't know how closely this mirrors the book series, though.
