D&D 4E Preparing for 4e - What campaign will you run?

Was going to run Pathfinder Rise of the Runelords, but not that sure now, especially now I have read #4 Fortress of the Stone Giants, and there may not be 4e stone giants in 1st MM?

Usually run a homebrew - one we have developed over many years, but like others, I am seeing the benefits of putting that energy into making great adventures, rather than worlds - as the players seem to appreciate that more. (As much as I LOVE creating settings).

So we may just have a few test run adventures using the 4E modules first....then I would love to create a new setting (but one not so strict on what is allowed...you know, like Mike Mearls said some time ago, 'If someone wants to play a Cleric of Thor - let them'. Start with the characters and then build around them - as others here have suggested).

Specifics I'm not sure on to be honest.

It will likely be in my homebrew setting - Natara.

It will likely follow the basic plot of;
PCs village is attacked by previously peaceful orcs, setting them on a path that will ultimately see them begin the restoration of an Empire.

I will probably salvage bits from a number of classic modules as well, and maybe the new modules. But neither me nor my players are hyper keen on dungeon crawling.

At first, I'd go with the implied setting + new adventure path, but I'm already running a game that seems to have enough fuel to go past the middle of the year, so maybe we'll just convert and keep playing.

Cheers

We've played out FR, GH, Ebb and CONAN. I'm ready for something new. I can't wait to see what the 3rd parties will have.

Sucky part is that there willbe NOTHING for worlds for a while. FR is advanced so far that you can't really 'start' in FR and then convert. GH is dead. Ebb..well..meh, it never caught on with me.

I hate to say it, but not releasing a world at the get go is like not releasing the DMG at the same time as the PHB.

I am running my home brew world campaign that I have been running for about a year. When 4e comes out, we will convert to the best of our ability. For now, we are running business as usual style.

I will have the home brew setting advance a thousand or so years to fit a lot of the default fluff, mostly because I really like the points of light idea and my home brew is kind of bleh.
