D&D 4E Presentation vs design... vs philosophy

Actually what I'm objecting to is having to go through 99 powers that are samey to find the 1 that is unique.

So what you object to is quite literally that other people have options that they find meaningful that you don't personally. And despite the fact that this doesn't come up or slow the game down in play because those options go nowhere near your character sheet you object to there being options that you don't find interesting even when other people do.

Thank you for that admission.

Maybe stop trying to pick a fight and listen?

In relation to the thread's premise. Anyone who has built one know whether an epic level PF2 Rogue is capable of that kind of mundane climbing? That would be a line of evidence that the game is 4e inspired.
That was one of the design goals of the game: specifically to make “Legendary” skill feats seem legendary.
The Quick Climb feat (requires level 7 and master in Athletics) allows you to increase your Climb speed by 5’ on a successful Climb check and by 10’ on a Critical success.
If you subsequently obtain Legendary in Athletics, you climb equal to your Move Speed, so 30’ if you haven’t improved it. Note that under PF2 rules, you can climb three times on your turn, which bring you up to 90’ if you haven’t improved your movement.
Weirdly enough, if you want to jump instead of
Climb, you can take the Cloud Jump Skill feat at level 15, then as long as you took Assurance in Athletics you can take 2 actions to simply jump 30’ vertically (with a running start). Without Assurance, you can take your chances with an Athletics roll, and if you roll a 17 to 20, make a 40’ vertical leap.
This is all non-Rogue specific by the way.

I'm not going to argue. You do you.

Have a good one.
He's not wrong though. Calling people out to have them rush you to then hit them before they hit you; throwing multiple daggers to take people out temporarily...these are all things people have read in books or comics or seen done in movies by characters without magical powers.

Maybe your initial assumption about the narrative surrounding the power was wrong?

The above example of a feat also reflects something that I dislike about PF2. On the one hand, the feat says that if you want to be Legendary at Climbing, you can. The feat also says that if you want to dig into your reserves and Climb slightly further by making an Athletics check, you need to be level 7, have a Master in Climbing, and to take the appropriate feat.

I agree with the first hand, but not the second.
