Preserving Animal Meat

Suppose the PC's buy a Cow and kill it so they go around eating it while travelling... would the Gentle Repose spell allow them to "preserve" it???
So as they cast a "Gentle Repose" spell once per day, put the cow inside a box and eat from it day after day????

And a box (or coffin) with a permanent "Gentle Repose" to any corpse in it... would be like a modern day refrigerator??? (without the cold...)

yeah i had a group with a herd of pigs one time to use a trap detector/food source it was funny to me .....but not them when i later penalized their stealth checks cause they couldnt make the pigs be quiet

I was always partial to the "slay and fillet" style, when it comes to hauling food around.

I mean, hey, everyone knows monsters eat adventurers, but in Soviet Russia, the adventurers eat the monsters!

thats because its not
its comes out to about 12,000gp

its a continuous item so its caster level x spell level x 2,000

but it's divided by 2 since it's duration is longer than 24hs..
so 6k is the price...
is it 6k to make and 240XP to make?
or 3k and 120XP?
