[PRESS] Free Anime RPG and Thank You

This is a good idea. Let's everyone see what the fuss is about with a great book to boot.

It'll be interesting to see how this all pans out. To be honest, while I enjoy PDF files, I'm mainly a print buyer and if I know something is coming to print, will almost always buy the print product. Heck, almost every PDF I've bought I wind up printing anyway which increases my cost of ownership quite a bit.

Hopefully this is a viable model and we'll continue to see more material and more options for the buyers.
Joe, feel free to see what the fuss is about, but the issue goes WAY beyond DTRPG's usability. Before you do anything that actually plunks some money down, do some research on DRM from the Wikipedia.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_Rights_Management

You can see why it has to be stopped. The RPG industry is small enough that a few lost sales CAN make a difference.

Funk, i can see the danger DRM might present, and i don't like it one bit that some publishers are using that format. That said, i have and will continue to buy from them, the service they provide just saves me an enormous amount of time and effort for relatively very little cash. The Adobe DRM used is not that restrictive (i can extract text, i can extract images, i can print it, i can read it at home, on my laptop, and at work), i would love to get the files i buy DRM-free, but for now that's not going to happen.

If you are so against DRM, go crusade against it, be my guest, but not on these boards please. These are supposed to be RPG boards, not a political forum, this subject has changed from a discussion of dislike to a political crusade against DRM (and those companies that use it). This is not to the benefit of this RPG community, as it's alienating publisher who have basically done nothing wrong, or even unethical.

I'm not going to get in a philosophical discussion with you, or anyone else for that matter, over whether DRM and the companies that are using it are doing something wrong or are being unethical. Don't take it up with me, go bother your government representative, if your not happy with the job (s)he's doing, go run for office your self...

The subject is getting a bit RIDICULOUS (just saw Harry P. ;-), DTRPG and the companies associate with them are being unfairly targeted by certain (new) members of ENworld, i would prefer it greatly if this hostile behavior could be turned down a notch or two, because i generally appreciate the pressence of certain publisher representatives...

This affects the RPG industry, therefore it is a valid topic for these boards.

I would say that the companies that associate with DTRPG are being fairly targeted by Enworld members. What's your criterion for "fair" or "unfair?"

Personally, I think that raising consumer awareness about a nasty trend in consumer products that is trying to creep it's way into OUR hobby is rather fair - and that we cannot let DTRPG survive financially.

If that means harming the "livelihoods" of people dumb enough to depend on RPG sales as a source of income, well, then, so be it.

(Sorry to continue this derailment, but...)

This sentiment strikes me as vaguely sinister... care to clarify?
