Preview of Dungeon 121 in Issue 120

Can anyone who has Dungeon 120 do me a favor and help end a minor disagreement for me? On the back of the magazine, there is an ad with a picture of a very hot (ssmmookkiinn!) lady. Who is she? Is that Sarah Michelle Geller?

Love the detail on the armor. It has to be magical, right? That's the only way it's going to work.

.... Has anyone devised a whole "chainmail bikini" set up in their game. Something that not only provides magica protection but also a "distraction" bonus of some sort. Elf chicks welcome to apply.

I made chainmail bikini as a cursed item that looks like normal armor at first, and then can't be removed and destroy everything you're wearing, including clothings underneath and real armor. There's also continual damage from the metal mail chaffing, and daily saves against catching a cold.

Otherwise, you can do a lot of things with glamered armor, as it can illusorily appears to be anything, including cheesy Princess Leia Slave Outfits.

It's good to know that people are interested in getting this issue of Dragon, especially since I'm the author of the Beowulf article (first time published!). Now, if only I could get my contract...

But I'm also interested in the other articles, especially the Demonomicon series.

Demiurge out.

Quite frankly, I'm pumped about this issue of Dragon. Ever since the "relaunching" I've been less and less impressed with it. Whereas its sister magazine Dungeon has been thriving, Dragon seemed on a downward spiral.

To be sure, I liked some of the new monthly features. Unlike many, I think monthly "Silicon Sorcery" and "Novel Approach" articles were a great idea; the Chocobo was a case in point. However, I noticed something that really bothered me: the themes of each issue were eclipsed, both in terms of game material and in page count.

A theme of Horror, for example, found itself with a few articles that, although interesting to read (such as Lovecraft's influence on D&D), weren't directly useful for the game itself. There were no game stats, no way to directly apply what was there to what happened at the game table. Worse, the plethora of monthly articles, which were obviously designed to be the "crunch" of the magazine, had taken up two thirds of the space, and didn't relate to the theme. In short, it felt too piecemail, and the relevant subject matter felt too light.

Now, we seem to finally be having a return to normalcy. Next month's subject matter looks like it'll have that great mix of fluff and crunch together, and the monthly colums won't eclipse the meat of the monthly themes. It's good to have the old Dragon back.

Wonder how much mention there will be of the Exorcist in this article. Hmmm.... maybe a feat for spiderwalking and headspin + vomit combo.

So. much. potential!

Hmm...I'm starting to think Dragon might be in a position to pick up some of its lost momentum...

Twice I have subscribed to Dragon.

The first time, I subscribed a few months before it shut down that time.
The second time, they kept forgetting to send me my magazine, and I got tired of whining to them to please send me the magazine and having it arrive two months after it was supposed to.

I'm thinking of subscribing again. Maybe, just maybe, this time I won't end up getting screwed over. I want to subscribe because I hate paying full cover price, but I know it's going to come back and bite me in the butt. Again.

Great magazine. Retarded direct mail staff.

We like the sound of that. :)

Just so we know, which article whets your appetite most?
The Legacy of Beowulf: statistics and background.

Mesopotamian Mythos: complete pantheon

Demonomicon of Iggwilv: Pazuzu by James Jacobs: first in a series.

Ecology of the Kenku

That's 4 out of 5 items on the list. good work. I never buy Dragon, and the last two times I did I was dissapointed, but Erik at the helm in general gives me reason to take another chance when it sounds as potentially good as this.
